Key takeaways
- Small drywall patches in Las Vegas typically run $150–$450. Full sheet replacement runs $350–$700.
- Texture matching and paint blending are what make a repair disappear — and they are the first things cut from a cheap quote.
- Ceiling repairs cost more than wall repairs because they are the hardest to make invisible.
Drywall repair pricing is easy to quote and easy to get wrong, because the difference between a patch that disappears and a patch that shows is entirely in the finishing. Here is what it costs, and what you should be getting.
Typical Las Vegas ranges
| Scope | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Nail holes and small dings, per room | $100 – $250 |
| Small patch, one hole up to about 6 inches | $150 – $450 |
| Larger patch, up to a full sheet | $350 – $700 |
| Full sheet replacement, textured and painted | $350 – $700 |
| Water-damaged section cut out, dried and refinished | $700 – $1,800 |
| Ceiling patch, textured and painted | $250 – $900 |
| Corner bead or pop-out repair | $200 – $500 |
| Whole-home patching before a repaint | $600 – $3,500 |
What makes a repair invisible
- The patch is squared off to the framing rather than feathered into damaged board
- Paper tape and setting-type compound, built up in three coats
- Sanded to a level-4 finish so the patch does not telegraph through the paint
- Texture matched to the surrounding wall — tested on a panel first
- Primed before painting, because unprimed compound absorbs paint differently
- Paint blended to the nearest corner rather than spot-painted
Where cheap quotes cut corners
Texture matching, primer and paint blending. A quote that says "patch and paint" without texture matching is a quote for a repair that will be visible from across the room. Ask what standard the finish will be to.
Why ceilings cost more
Light rakes across a ceiling from below, so every imperfection casts a shadow. Ceilings are also harder to reach, and a ceiling repair usually means something happened above it — a roof leak, an AC condensate line, or a bathroom overflow. We check the cause before we patch the evidence.
Water damage is a different scope
Water-damaged drywall is not a patch job. The board has to come out, the cavity has to be dried and verified, and the cause has to be fixed — otherwise the repair fails. Expect the cost to sit well above a standard patch, and expect the scope to include baseboard and paint.
What the EPA says
The EPA advises fixing the water or moisture problem first and drying water-damaged areas within 24 to 48 hours to prevent mould growth, and removing porous materials that cannot be dried thoroughly. On a water-damaged wall, that is the difference between a repair and a remediation.

How to keep the cost down
- Group repairs. Patching five areas in one visit costs far less than five visits.
- Repair before repainting rather than after, so the paint covers the repair and the blend.
- Tell us the texture and sheen up front, or let us match it — guessing is what creates a second visit.
- Address the cause. Patching over an active leak is paying twice for the same repair.
What we typically see in Las Vegas homes
Based on our own repair work
From the drywall work we do across the Valley every week:
- The repairs we are called to redo are almost always missing texture matching, not patching. The patch was fine; the finish was not.
- Ceiling repairs are the single most common callback we get asked to correct from other vendors, because the shadow line is unforgiving.
- Water-damaged drywall is routinely under-scoped. On most of the jobs we open, the baseboard is affected too, and sometimes the subfloor.
- Homes with an AC air handler in the attic produce more ceiling drywall work than any other single cause we see.
A Summerlin South rental had a hallway ceiling repair done by another vendor that was still clearly visible — a smooth patch on a hand-applied knockdown ceiling, glowing under the hallway light.
Cut the patch back, re-taped and finished it to level-4, built a test panel to match the existing hand-applied knockdown before touching the repair, applied the matched texture, primed the patch, then blended the ceiling paint across the full plane. Standing under it, there is no visible seam, no sheen difference and no shadow line.
